The Euskotren Basque Railway Museum to run 6 classic trains from 31 July to 3 August
The Basque Railway Museum, managed by Basque Government's publicly-owned company Euskotren, will run 6 classic trains from 31 July to 3 August. As part of the usual steam engine season, which ends in November, trains will depart from the Museum (Azpeitia) to Lasao on 31 July, 2 and 3 August, leaving at the following times:
• Thursday 31 July: 12.00 noon.
• Saturday 2 August: 12.00 noon and 5.30 p.m.
• Sunday 3 August: 12.00 noon
The Museum’s special diesel locomotive service in August will start on Friday the 1st as well. This service operates two diesel engines on weekdays from Tuesday to Friday, departing from the Museum (Azpeitia) to Lasao at 12.00 noon and 5.30 p.m.
The Basque Railway Museum boasts one of the best railway collections in Europe featuring a whole range of vehicles: electric, diesel and steam locomotives, railcars and different types of wagons. It is home to one of the Basque Country’s most comprehensive sets of machine tools from the former Urola railway repair shop as well. There is also a display of railway uniforms from the end of the 19th century and one of the best railway clock collections in the world.
The opening hours of the Museum facilities during July and August are as follows:
Tuesday to Saturday:
Mornings: from 10.30 a.m. to 2.00 p.m.
Afternoons: 4.00 p.m. to 7.30 p.m.
Sundays and bank holidays:
Mornings: from 10.30 a.m. to 2.00 p.m.
