BAT General - More information

What is the General Anonymous BAT Card?

The General BAT Card is a multiperson and transferable wallet that can be used by several people. It is a contactless card (includes a chip) that allows tram users to travel with a discount.

Can the Anonymous Card be registered? What are the benefits of registering?

Yes, you can not only register Anonymous Cards, it is advisable to do so. It is a very simple procedure. If it is registered, should the card be lost, you can recover the balance following certain guidelines.

What are the requirements to apply for the Card?

Any person can apply for a Personalised BAT Card, although minor under 6 years of age do not need to have one if they are accompanied by an adult who does have a ticket.

What documents are required to apply for the Card?

A credit card to pay the 3 euros cost of the card or proof of payment of that amount issued by automatic machines at the stops.

If you wish to register the card, you must also provide your National Id. Card, Foreign Resident’s Card, or passport.

Where can you apply for the Card?

At the tram information office (OIT). If you should need more information, please call Customer Service at 944 333 333.

I have lost my Anonymous General BAT Card or it has been stolen, can I replace it?

No. As it has not been personalised, it has therefore not been assigned to a specific person and cannot be replaced. The balance can only be recovered if the card, even if it is anonymous, has been registered with the Tram Information Office (OIT). In this case, the balance will be transferred at the OIT two days after the lost or stolen card has been blocked, after updating the data from all the operators. The new card will cost three euros.

If the BAT Card has a fault or has been damaged, can I ask for another one?

If it has a fault, it will be exchanged for a new one free of cost during the first four years, whether it is anonymous or registered. To transfer the balance, you will have to visit the Tram Information Office (OIT) the next day, once the usage data from all the operators have been updated. If the holder of the card is responsible for the damage, the card cannot be replaced, although the balance will be transferred under the guidelines mentioned above.
