Euskotren to run a special train service for St. Thomas’s Fair in Bilbao on 21 December

Body

Euskotren, the publicly-owned company under the Basque Government’s Ministry of Sustainable Mobility, will put on extra trains in Bizkaia to meet the greater demand due to the St. Thomas’s Fair being held in Bilbao. There will also be changes to the Bilbao tram service.

On 21 December, extra trains will be run on the different railway lines in addition to the regular Sunday service in Bizkaia to deal with the expected greater number of passengers travelling to and from the St. Thomas’s Fair in Bilbao.

Specifically, Euskotren will run the following rail and Metro underground services in Bizkaia:

• Matiko/Bilbao – Ermua, section on the General Line E1.
• Lezama – Kukullaga/Etxebarri, Line E3.
• Matiko/Bilbao – Kukullaga/Etxebarri, L3 underground line in Bilbao
• Matiko/Bilbao – Bermeo (Urdaibai), Line E4.

BILBAO TRAMWAY: CHANGES TO THE SERVICE

In the case of Bilbao, Euskotren will alter its regular tramway service, due to the St. Thomas’s Fair being held. Trams will therefore not run between Atxuri and Pio Baroja from 9.00 a.m. to 11.15 p.m., approximately. That means that the trams will run on the Bolueta – Atxuri and Pio Baroja – La Casilla sections during the above times.

The service frequency will range between 12 and 15 minutes during the day.

Euskotren recommends that passengers planning to travel by train or by tram check the times in advance using the official APP or the search engine on www.euskotren.eus. Further information is available from the stations or stop or by calling 944 333 333.
