The Zarautz provisional service will come into service on Saturday 18 June

Body

On Saturday 18 June, the Zarautz provisional service will come into service. It will be located 150 metres from the current one on the Donostia-San Sebastián bound side, right by numbers 11 and 13 of Calle Lapurdi. Once it is in service, the technical teams will be able to demolish the current station and then start work on building the new terminal.

This project, financed by the Transport Ministry through ETS and Zarautz Local Council, will ensure a safe and accessible connection between the platforms and the lobby area. An underpass will be constructed under the new terminal to guarantee that the areas to the north and south of the railway track in Zarautz urban centre are connected.

ETS is also in charge of the construction work in the new San Pelaio stop, which serves the neighbourhood of that same name.

The underpass between the Calle Lapurdi and Calle Mitxelena streets, along with the stop itself, will need to be closed from 1 July to accommodate the works.

A walkway with steps and ramps will be installed instead of the Inurritza underpass while it is closed for 12 months. It will be located around 100 metres on the Zumaia bound side.   In turn, the users of the stop will have to use the new provisional station.

The Euskal Trenbide Sarea executives and technical management explained these provisional situations to local residents during a meeting held at the Plenary Room of Zarautz Town Hall yesterday.
