In summer, the Transport Department will start work on upgrading the platform and the shelter at the Lasarte Oria Station on the “Topo” line in Gipuzkoa. The budget for the civil work is €471,675 (excluding VAT) and the implementation period is 4 months. Now that Euskal Trenbide Sarea (ETS), the contracting authority, has approved the best bid, submitted by Zamakoa S.A., and checked the documents, the formalities for the final awarding of the contract will take place.
According to the project of ETS, the public company belonging to the Transport Department headed by Iñaki Arriola, the work to upgrade the Lasarte-Oria platform and shelter is mainly due to the difference in height between the EMU 950/900 units and the platform, and the shelter leaking due to age and wear and tear.
The tendered work includes the demolition, foundations and paving of the platform, erecting the shelter and lifeline, supplying and fitting the stainless-steel furniture and railings, installing drainage, supplying and mounting the LED signage of the pending items, painting strips, stop lines and metal items, installing LED lighting and finally cleaning the site and manholes.
Furthermore, passenger access and the normal rail schedule will be as normal as any work that could disrupt them will be carried out at night.
This action includes the criteria in the White Paper to design the stations of the Basque rail network regarding gender perspective. The manual seeks to offer solutions to provide safe and usable space and services to all rail users, regardless of their age, gender or abilities.
