The Euskotren Basque Railway Museum to run three steam trains next weekend
The Basque Railway Museum operated by Euskotren, a publicly-owned company of the Basque Government, will run three steam trains next weekend. These services are part of the regular season that will continue until November.
The steam locomotives will depart from the Museum (Azpeitia-Gipuzkoa) to Lasao at the following times:
• Saturday 27 June: 12.00 noon and 5.30 p.m.
• Sunday 28 June: 12.00 noon
The opening hours of the museum facilities are as follows:
Tuesday to Friday (not bank holidays):
Mornings: from 10.00 a.m. to 1.30 p.m.
Afternoons: from 3.00 p.m. to 6.30 p.m.
Saturdays:
Mornings: from 10.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m.
Afternoons: 4.00 p.m. to 7.30 p.m.
Sundays and bank holidays (except Mondays):
Mornings: from 10.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m.
The Basque Railway Museum boasts one of the best railway collections in Europe featuring a whole range of vehicles: electric, diesel and steam locomotives, railcars and different types of carriages. It also has one of the Basque Country’s most comprehensive sets of machine tools from the former Urola railway repair shop. There is also a display of railway uniforms from the end of the 19th century and one of the best railway clock collections in the world.
July and August opening hours at the Basque Railway Museum
The summer timetable (July and August) at the Basque Railway Museum will start on Wednesday 1 July. The new opening hours of the Azpeitia facilities will be as follows:
• Tuesday to Saturday: mornings: from 10.30 a.m. to 2.00 p.m.: afternoons: from 4.00 p.m. to 7.30 p.m.
• Sundays and bank holidays: from 10.30 a.m. to 2.00 p.m.
The steam trains will run every Saturday and Sunday in July. They will run at 12.00 noon and 5.30 p.m. on Saturdays and at 12.00 noon on Sundays and bank holidays.
When it comes to August, in addition to a steam train service similar to the one in July, three diesel-driven classic trains will run on Tuesday to Friday (not bank holidays), departing from the Museum at 12.00 noon and 5.30 p.m.
